Studio Assistant → Engineer and Mixer → Consultant

Where I started: assisting chief engineer Carlos Velázquez on Cultura Profética’s La Dulzura. I worked my way from studio assistant to assistant engineer to engineer and mixer, and I never really left: I still consult with owner Ramón Martínez and Carlos on upgrades and maintenance every week.

John has a big confidence in himself, he wasn’t afraid of anything when he started, and that’s something you have to have in the studio.

La Casa del Sombrero

Studio Manager & Chief Engineer

Engineering credits on albums that won Grammy and Latin Grammy awards.

Recorded and mixed sessions for 30+ international artists, among them Calle 13, Jorge Drexler, Vicente García, Monsieur Periné and Cultura Profética. It started in 2010: Calle 13’s Eduardo Cabra came into the studio with a problem in his home recording setup, I offered to take a look, we hit it off, and I worked with the group from then on.
